About Cinema Nosso
Cinema Nosso is a media arts-based organization in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, that uses film and video as a means of education, empowerment and cultural expression from diverse perspectives.
Our students, young adults from Rio’s favelas and other low-income communities, receive training, voice their realities and gain skills valuable in the film world and beyond. Cinema Nosso empowers this youth as they explore, discover, rewrite and appropriate their own image and history through audiovisual works, the most powerful tools today.
Who we are - Cinema Nosso is a social organization whose institutional mission is to "broaden the cultural universe and contribute to the development of critical thinking of children, adolescents and young people belonging to disadvantaged groups through the use of audiovisual language.
What we do - We offer courses in various methods and technologies associated with audiovisual production (tv, video, film, and animation) for children, adolescents, young people and students from public schools in the municipalities of Rio de Janeiro and São Gonçalo.
How we do - Our methodology is focused on strengthening our students' communication skills. Our goal is that at the time of course completion our students will have the skills to express their own ideas with strength and clarity.
